Challenge
When I joined Salinas Defense Law Firm, its social media presence wasn't effectively supporting the firm's growth. Instagram had plateaued at just 407 followers, engagement was minimal, and the content lacked a clear strategy to educate, build trust, or connect with potential clients. The firm also had no presence on TikTok or YouTube, limiting its ability to reach audiences where short-form video was becoming one of the most effective ways to build awareness.
Marketing a criminal defense law firm presents a unique challenge. Legal services are built on trust, credibility, and professionalism, yet social media rewards authenticity, consistency, and relatable storytelling. The goal was to bridge that gap by creating content that maintained the firm's authority while making legal topics more approachable. Rather than treating social media as a place to simply post updates, the challenge was to transform it into a platform that educated, engaged, and built meaningful relationships with current and prospective clients.
My Approach
I approached the project as a full digital transformation rather than a simple social media refresh. The first step was creating a cohesive identity across Instagram and Facebook so the firm's online presence felt professional, recognizable, and consistent. From there, I expanded the brand onto TikTok and YouTube to reach new audiences through short-form video and increase visibility beyond traditional legal marketing channels.
To sustain growth, I built a daily content system that covered the entire production process - from concept development and scripting to filming, editing, publishing, and performance analysis. The strategy focused on three core content pillars: relatable lawyer content, plain-English client education, and behind-the-scenes storytelling. This combination allowed the firm to maintain credibility while becoming more approachable to potential clients, law students, and members of the local community.
Rather than relying on generic legal content, every video was designed to answer real questions, address common misconceptions, or provide a human perspective on criminal defense. The goal was to make the firm feel less like a distant law office and more like a trusted resource people would turn to when they needed guidance. By pairing consistent production with audience-focused storytelling, I was able to create a content engine that supported both brand awareness and client acquisition.

Why it worked
Consistency builds recognition, and recognition builds trust. By combining strategic storytelling with educational and relatable content, the firm's social media evolved from a static presence into a resource that people genuinely wanted to engage with. A consistent publishing system, paired with content that informed and connected with audiences, led to sustained growth, stronger engagement, and a more recognizable brand across every platform.
Beyond the metrics, the firm's social media became an important pillar of its credibility. Prospective clients could see the attorneys' expertise, personality, and approach before ever making contact, helping establish trust and confidence early in the decision-making process. Social media became more than a marketing channel - it became an extension of the firm's reputation, supporting client acquisition while reinforcing the professionalism and authenticity behind the brand.
